Matthew Lynch Extremely happy that we used Carolina Decks to build our sunroom. Luke was great to work with during the design. Li and his team were amazing to work with during construction. They did excellent work and were great at communicating the timing and steps of construction. We are so happy with our sunroom and looking forward to spending lots of time in there with our family! Highly recommend Carolina Decks!John S We needed to rebuild an upper-level deck due to structural issues caused by age (20 years) and poor design, and Carolina Decks was professional and easy to work with from start to finish. From start to finish, the entire process was seamless, organized, and stress-free. Tammy in finance was incredibly helpful and responsive, making everything easy and clear. And Luke, the owner, was phenomenal to work with—hands-on, knowledgeable, and truly committed to quality. The craftsmanship is top-notch and the final result exceeded our expectations. The quality of work and attention to detail really show. We couldn’t be happier and would highly recommend Carolina Decks to anyone looking for a beautiful, well-built deck and roof system.Neil Peterson Had a great experience from start to finish with Carolina Decks. Li and Gio were the leads on my project and crushed it. They were in constant contact with me and the project, which was very refreshing. Definitely consider using Carolina Decks.Scott Peters I’d recommend Carolina Decks to build your new deck. They did a great job and my deck looks incredible. The project was for a complete redo of my main deck, stairs and my upper deck off the master BR, about 650 sq ft total. I went with TT Reserve Antique Leather composite decking, Camo hidden fasteners and TT Impression Rail Express railings with a drink rail. I will mention a few things about choosing Carolina Decks: 1) It helps if you know exactly what you want going into the start of the project. I did and it helped tremendously. I helped with planning and the execution to get what I envisioned. 2) You will need to be the daily project manager. I found that I was doing most of the daily management as far as the build and install went. The project manager, Bob, was a great guy and very customer oriented, but was not onsite very often unless materials were needed by the build team. 3) Carolina Decks subs out their labor for building the decks so the quality may depend on the subs for each job. In my case, the two guys that built my deck were great. Mike and Jeremiah showed good attention to detail and were skilled at deck building. They did make some mistakes along the way but corrected them at my request. They demoed the entire two decks and infrastructure in one day. Very impressive. The total deck demo and build took 4 weeks with a lot of rain in that time period which was very reasonable. Mike and Jeremiah really knew what they were doing when it came to building the deck infrastructure. It required drilling through the brick into the basement (above a drop ceiling) to attach the new ledger board to the brick house. They drilled and bolted about every foot which is way beyond minimum code. On the upper deck, they used special brackets from Simpson that attached the ledger through the brick into the wood structure. This prevented any internal drywall damage. This was much appreciated. The decking install went pretty well with a few hiccups that had to be corrected. I was able to get a free upgrade to Antique Leather decking after a delivery mishap with the Coconut Husk I had originally ordered. That was a big upgrade and much appreciated. My stairs were all done with picture frames (see pic). This is labor intensive and was done to near perfection. All face screws were plugged. I chose white Azek PVC for the risers and fascia. The screws on these were also plugged. The decking itself was done in two long sections with a vertical divider in between and a picture frame along the outside. This is where the hiccup happened which I believe was due to the install process. Instead of installing the boards full length and working from the outside back towards the house, the guys installed one side first from the outside to the house and then installed the other side. This ended up in about a 1” mismatch between the left-side boards and right-side boards. The reason was due to the gap sizes being slightly off from one another as well as the actual board widths varying by up to 1/8”. The board widths are not exactly the same! The team unscrewed the initial section and tightened it up as much as possible. The result was that the boards lined up much better with the other side but a small bow was introduced as the edges were pulled in slightly tighter than the middle. It is probably only something that I would ever notice. I had them double up the vertical divider board as well to give the two sides some extra separation. This was the first time that the guys had installed these Timbertech rails. It is a beautiful railing but needs exact cuts for a seamless install. The guys did a great job with the cuts minimizing the gaps and post scratches. The install went well for the most part but I had to project manage this the most. Some posts had to be readjusted to accommodate the available supporting brackets and the top rails needed to be exactly flush with the posts for a seamless drink rail install, which they were not. These issues were corrected and final touches completed.
